We're an eclectic contemporary jazz septet based in Glasgow, Scotland.
Through original compositions and innovative covers we explore moods and genres, creating a sound that is unique on the Scottish scene.
Mikey Butcher, Tenor Saxophone
Mikey is a wonderful saxophonist and graduate of the jazz course at the royal conservatoire of Scotland. He is currently making a name for himself touring with the bands Mezcla and Tom McGuire and the Brassholes
Phil Cardwell, Trumpet
Trumpet player and composer Phil draws on his Highland roots in his original works. He has toured the world with The Hidden Orchestra and Orkestra del Sol.
Paul Harrison, Organ
Paul , an award-winning pianist, organist, composer and arranger has been a giant on the Scottish music scene for many years, he is currently leading his own projects “Sugarwork” and “Herschel 36” whilst also writing for the Elusive Tree.
Doug Hough, Drums
Doug's versatile drumming style has been described as "assertive but never domineering" and he has performed with greats from Evan Parker to Donny McCaslin
Adam Jackson, Alto Saxophone
One of Scotland's most original saxophonists and composers. Adam’s inventive, exciting improvising has found him playing with the likes of Euan Burton’s project “Too much love” and Hansu-Tori.
Rachel Lightbody, Vocals
Based in Glasgow but raised in Chicago, Rachel is a unique vocal talent and is highly regarded amongst jazz/folk and pop circles. She is the lead vocalist in the hit 'Start to Finish' series which has been selling out venues around Scotland
Ben MacDonald, Guitar
One of the most exciting and accomplished emerging jazz guitarists/composers in Scotland, Ben’s bold improvising and exciting compositions are on showcase in The Elusive Tree and also in his own band “Animus Quartet”
